What is a Legacy Film?
A Legacy Film is created by filming a professional documentary-style interview with your loved one. While this is typically a parent or grandparent, it is available to anyone who wants to simply tell their story, give advice or inform younger generations about their family heritage.
Legacy Films are offered to individuals and couples. They can include a few select photographs that help tell the story.
The result is a 1.5 - 2 hour film that can be enjoyed for generations and preserved as a priceless family heirloom.
How it Works
First, we work with you to schedule a convenient date and time to visit with your loved one. Our warm and friendly interviewer will contact them by phone beforehand to help plan the story they want to tell.
On filming day, we'll set up a small amount of
equipment in their home to capture professional
audio and video.
When filming concludes, we take your footage back to our studio and begin editing the final story.
Within 30 days, you'll receive your completed Legacy Film in three different formats to easily view, share and preserve your loved one's story for generations.

What They're Saying
The whole process was so easy, start to finish. From scheduling the interview, to interviewing my parents to delivery of the final film.
It turned out much better than I ever expected and I’m glad I have these stories to share with our whole family.
Todd was very warm and accommodating when he interviewed my mom. From the very first moment, he was able to put her at ease, and I could tell she was having fun talking to him.
-Lauren M.
At first, my Dad didn’t really understand why we wanted to make a video of him. But as soon as he started to tell stories, he had us all laughing in disbelief! I cannot recommend this service more for aging parents.

About Us
Legacy Lens is a passion project started by documentary cameraperson Todd Leatherman. Having contributed to over 50 documentary films that have been featured on platforms including Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, Disney+, PBS, Apple TV, Showtime, Discovery and National Geographic, Todd has refined his documentary skills to navigate even the most delicate of stories. He has filmed interviews with people of various backgrounds from many parts of the world, discussing a wide range of personal topics.
Legacy Lens is founded in memory of our dear friend, Brooke Ellison,
a scholar and medical research advocate who had been involved in a paralyzing accident at the age of 11. During the course of their friendship and over the course of his career, Todd came to realize that on an emotional level, some of the primary beneficiaries of documentary films are the families of those who are featured in the films. After Brooke passed away, Todd was inspired to create an affordable service that offers professional documentary production to the general public as a way of preserving the memories of their loved ones. The purple in our branding serves to remind us of Brooke's favorite color, and her spirit serves to remind us why we are committed to preserving your stories.
